Summer wrote her first song her junior year of high school. It was late one night and she was determined to write a song. But she couldn’t. It sounded too cheesy, she couldn’t find the right words, the melody wasn’t right. She yelled into her pillow, as if that would help, and decided it was time to call it a night. But the next day, it came to her. Before her eyes even opened, barely awake, the words and melody started to flow and became a pretty good first song. From then on, she wrote more and more songs, created more and more melodies, and found her love for this musical form of expression. If there is one thing Summer wants to encourage others in it is to remember the joy of creating, through the good and the bad.
